Role and remit
Philipp Piber holds two complementary roles at the intersection of national ANSP operations and international ATM coordination:
- Managing Director, Austro Control — overall responsibility for Austria's civil and military air navigation services, including en-route ATC across some of Europe's most challenging alpine airspace and the Vienna control zone serving one of Central Europe's busiest airports
- Chair, A6 Alliance — elected Chair of the A6 Steering Board since 2025, leading the strategic agenda of the six-ANSP alliance (NATS, NAV CANADA, Airservices Australia, CAAS Singapore, JCAB Japan, and a European partner) focused on ATM interoperability, data-link standards, and cross-border operational coordination
The A6 Alliance chairmanship gives Piber a global platform at ASW 2026, and his session on the A6 strategic vision is one of the conference's key industry-direction-setting events.

About Austro Control
Austro Control is the Austrian ANSP, a state-owned corporation providing civil and military ATC services across Austrian airspace and providing en-route services to parts of neighbouring Czech and Hungarian airspace. Vienna is one of Central Europe's principal hub airports, making Austro Control a significant player in FABEC and Central European airspace management.
About the A6 Alliance
The A6 Alliance is a strategic partnership between six of the world's leading ANSPs — NATS (UK), NAV CANADA, Airservices Australia, CAAS (Singapore), JCAB (Japan), and associated members — working to develop common ATM interoperability standards, data-link implementations, and operational frameworks that accelerate global ATM modernisation beyond what individual ANSPs can achieve alone.
