Role and remit
Iacopo Prissinotti leads EUROCONTROL's Network Management directorate, which encompasses:
- Network Manager operations — the EUROCONTROL Network Manager is the designated function under Single European Sky regulation responsible for tactical flow management across European airspace, coordinating the daily operations of 41 European ANSPs to maximise network efficiency
- ATFM coordination — the Network Manager's pre-tactical and tactical functions, including the publication of daily traffic flow management plans and the real-time intervention in traffic flows when capacity constraints arise
- Free Route Airspace — oversight of the FRA implementation programme across European airspace, which has delivered significant fuel savings for commercial aviation through the elimination of fixed route structures
- Network performance — the Network Manager's role in the SES performance scheme, including its contribution to the capacity KPA and the reporting of network delay statistics
Prissinotti joined EUROCONTROL in 2019 as Director of Network Management after a career beginning with the Italian Air Force and nearly 30 years with ENAV, the Italian ANSP, where he held senior operational and management roles. His combination of military, national ANSP, and pan-European network management experience gives him a perspective spanning the full civil-military coordination spectrum.
